Chesterfield FC Community Trust is delighted to announce North Derbyshire Running Club as a Gold Friend of the Trust.
North Derbyshire Running Club held a 10km race in Bolsover last month and have donated £2,500 of the funds raised to the Trust.
The Trust’s Georgia Ball, Lewis Sutcliffe and Osian Davies volunteered at the Bolsover 10km race, handing out water to contestants.
Derry French, chairman of North Derbyshire Running Club gave his thoughts on becoming a Gold Friend of the Trust. He said: “We currently have a couple of members that work for the Trust and every year, we do a big race, and we always have a local charity that we like to support.
“We donate a pound from every entry into our race, to give back to the local community and the club decided that we would match the amount we’d raised, meaning we could put that money into becoming a Friend of the Trust.”
When asked about why North Derbyshire Running Club wanted to get involved with the Trust, he said: “We pride ourselves on improving mental health and putting back into the community, and that’s what we’ve really gone for over the past year. We think that becoming a Friend of the Trust was the next step of that journey.
“So many people at our club had heard about the Community Trust, but didn’t know what they did and just how much they supported the local community.”
