The Trust are looking for new Trustees who wish to actively contribute and use their skills to enhance the Board in its oversight of the Trust. Importantly, to also provide professional insight across the Trust and its staff.

It is an exciting time to be joining the Trust as we continue our growth to be one of the leading charities in North Derbyshire, focusing on using the power of sport and physical activity, to improve both physical health and mental health across the district.

We deliver a number of projects from our home, the Hub at the SMH Stadium and out in the community, across education, healthy communities, social prescribing, alternative provision, football development, community engagement and heritage.

The Charity is an extraordinary place, and it is impossible not to feel a daily sense of pride at the collective dedication, knowledge and passion of its staff, and the sheer scale, depth, and quality of our services and support to those with whom it interacts. As we embark on our next phase, our priority is to ensure that we continue to evolve, but also transform our culture, support our people, but crucially, redouble our efforts as a Charity to succeed in our goal of being even stronger and more resilient than it was before.

General Responsibilities of a Trustee

• Providing strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.

• Ensuring that the Trust complies with its governing document, charity law, company law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

• Making sure that Trust pursues its objects as defined in its governing document and its Governance Policy.

• Safeguarding the good name and values of the Trust.

• Providing oversight to ensure the financial stability of the Trust.

• Protecting and managing the property of the Trust, and to ensure the proper investment of the Trust’s funds

• To appoint the Head of Trust and Deputy Head of Trust and monitor their performance.

The Vacancies

We are particularly interested in hearing from those with experience in:

  • Finance

Successful candidates will be able to contribute to the strategic leadership of the Trust and will be

equipped with the skills and knowledge to meet the challenges and opportunities faced by the

charity. You will also be able to demonstrate success in a senior role in the private/public/

voluntary sector, to think creatively and strategically and possess the skills to challenge current

thinking at a Board level.

Given the importance of reflecting our communities within the Board, we are taking this opportunity

to actively seek applications from individuals considered underrepresented across all parts of the

community, specifically by gender and ethnicity.

Please note that this is a voluntary role.
