A recent Premier League Kicks session put on by the Trust was attended by one of the local Safer Neighbourhood Team’s police community safety officers (PCSOs), to answer the questions of young people participating.
One of the Trust’s youth engagement mentors, Ryan Cheshire, spoke about the impact of these visits on young people. He said: “The impact that we hope the PCSO visits to Premier League Kicks sessions will have is to build stronger and more trusting relationships between participants and their local police officers.”
Ryan continued by commenting on how participants found the experience, saying: “The participants who attend the sessions enjoy the opportunities to regularly engage with PCSOs and ask questions about their roles and how they protect the communities that they serve, which is really beneficial for these young people.
”The Trust and the police work together in the community to help break down any potential barriers between young people and the police.”
