Derbyshire Constabulary recently launched their new Knife Replacement Scheme. The Trust took part in the initiative by having sharp-ended knives replaced with round-ended knives in Chester’s Den Cafe.
Toby Perkins, Labour MP for Chesterfield, visited the HUB to see the replacement in action as the old knives were collected in weapons tubes.

Inspector Josh Carter of Derbyshire Constabulary commented on the need for this initiative, saying: “This initiative is just one of many initiatives that we undertake in terms of looking to reduce knife crime within the community. This initiative is something that we’re looking to roll out across Derbyshire.
“Prevention is one of the measures that we take to make communities safer and to take knives off the streets of Derbyshire. We’re hoping schemes like this will mean that knives don’t get into the wrong hands, that they’re not out on the streets and that people are not able to use them to commit serious violence.”
