Chesterfield FC Community Trust offers Alternative Provision for struggling students in mainstream education. This personalised programme combines academic support, practical life skills, mentoring, and sport-based learning to help young people re-engage with education in a meaningful way.

It provides a structured and supportive environment tailored to the needs of each learner. Participants benefit from small group work, focused attention, and the opportunity to build routine, responsibility, and self-belief.

Thr1ve AP at Chesterfield FC Community Trust is designed for students where fulltime mainstream education is not the most suitable provision for a variety of reasons. We aspire to have a positive impact on all involved.

The Thr1ve AP team create a stimulating, interactive programme of education, where students are working towards individual targets hoping to re-integrate students into some form of mainstream education. We work within the national curriculum to deliver daily Maths and English as well as a half-termly topic which changes alongside gaining a variety of skills to support students behavioural, SEND and SEMH needs.

We work towards the National Curriculum format, and we work towards these standards.

The Hook of the provision is the football club setting, using the power of the badge and relaxed environment within and around the stadium to re-engage students who are not settled in a mainstream school environment.

Physical activity is daily and often developed by the students themselves to encourage participation. Keeping active has huge benefits to both physical and mental health and well-being.

Achieving is key to students feeling valued and by using digital online learning bespoke to their individual likes – students can achieve qualifications in a variety of key skills varying from First Aid to IT skills.

Individual learning and behaviour targets are created and used for all students to track their goals and progress. Our environment is inherently different to school, and we use the Community Trust, the Football Club for physical activity to engage students.

Our goal is to support students to re-engage in education and develop their own life skills to support becoming a good citizen within their community.

We also celebrate all our students’ achievements and the progress they have made at the end of the academic year. We repeat this process every year, and we hold this celebration at the football club. We do this to help the students feel a part of the wider club, and we recognise the contributions the AP group has made over this academic year.
