The Trust recently delivered 550 Christmas hampers to families in the local community.
Georgia Ball has thanked the Friends of the Trust for their support during the entire process. She said: “We do these each year, supported by Street Games, but the support we received from Leverton UK and Smurfit Westrock allowed us to create extra hampers this year. They also brought lorries to help us unpack and deliver all across the county.
“We had volunteers from Wesco Anixter and North Derbyshire Running Club, who donated selection boxes, come down to help pack. It was great to have so many Friends of the Trust mucking in to get these hampers made and delivered.
“My mum, Karen Ball, ran the project and it all started on November 26, when the food was delivered from Aldi and the club were kind enough to donate the boxes for the hampers.”
Speaking about the impact that the hampers will have, Georgia added: “They all go to children and their families who are on free school meals. We actually delivered 11,000 meals to 550 families who may not otherwise be able to afford to eat hot meals over the Christmas break.
“It’s times like this that we probably take it for granted that we will be sitting, having a nice, hot Christmas dinner around the table, but that’s not the case for all families. It’s an incredible thing to be able to do and something that everybody at the Trust is really proud of.”
