The Trust’s annual awards ceremony to celebrate outstanding achievements from participants across all programmes recently took place.

Deputy head of the Trust, Keith Jackson, and head of finance, Georgia Ball, reflected on the success of the event.

Keith said: “The awards night is always a fantastic occasion to bring together participants from the breadth of the Trust’s programmes, with smiling faces throughout the night and very emotional as well.

“The youngsters coming in for the first section went exactly as I’d expect, smiling faces, they enjoyed getting on stage and getting their certificates and medals, having teams down there that had achieved well in their field was fantastic.

“Great to see so many people attending the young people’s awards. It was a fantastic turnout and again just bringing together groups of people from different activities to see the breadth of projects that the Trust runs.

“Finally, the adult awards section is always the most emotional and it was brilliant. The standout for me was Oli Barnes receiving special recognition from his own Buddy Buddy group for ex-military, who reached out to us before the event to reward him for the work that he does, which was remarkable.”

Georgia added: “I think it really showcases everything the Trust does across all the different areas. We had sponsors of the awards and Friends of the Trust at the back of the room, so they all deserve a big thank you for allowing us to make that event happen, from each individual award sponsor to Smurfit Westrock, who sponsored the whole event.

“I think it’s great for them to see just how diverse the Trust is, the amount of people that we support and just how important their support is in helping us do that. But obviously the most important thing of the evening is highlighting the success of the participants.

“Everything we do is for the community and to get that cohesion and get the different groups mixing together is everything that we’re about, bringing everyone together. In the adult awards, we had Senior Spireites, ASR, Knit and Natter all in one room amongst many others.”
