A group of charity fundraisers who visited the SMH Group Stadium Chesterfield’s game against Tranmere Rovers last Saturday were delighted with the reception they received.

Pete Summers, a DHL Aviation UK Ltd employee, and some of his colleagues have taken on the challenge of running from East Midlands Airport, to local sports grounds across the Midlands, all in aid of Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

Trust staff organised for Pete and his colleagues to attend the Tranmere match and they were introduced to the crowd at half time.

Commenting on the experience, Pete said: “After running through Storm Darragh head on for 20 miles, it was an extremely warm welcome to see the SMH Group Stadium and the applause we got as we completed our last lap of over 350km was the best feeling after being rain swept for over ten hours.

“To keep us going, we always had Rainbows Hospice in our thoughts and what an amazing job these people do, so the more we can publicise this fact and get people funding them, the more our runs have been a success.

“Thank you to everyone who as already donated and those that will, your money will help ‘Brightening short lives’.

Rainbows rely on donations to provide vital medical care and support to hundreds of babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families.
