The Trust’s Knit & Natter group have once again been working hard to support the community, this time creating twiddlemuffs for local care home Goldwell Manor.

The hand-knitted twiddlemuffs have different textures and attachments that can be fiddled with to provide sensory stimulation.

Group leader Debbie Dance said: “I saw them being used and I know they’re used at hospitals and nursing homes and I just thought it would be kind for the group to give back to them.

“We were using donated wool, which made it even better.

“We have taken the twiddlemuffs to Goldwell Manor, who specialise in supporting those suffering with dementia, having a floor dedicated to dementia patients.”

On the difference it will make to the residents, Debbie added: “They’re sensory, so even someone who is blind could sit and play with the tactile elements.

“We’re also going to be making some for physiotherapists as they’re also used in hospitals for different reasons.”

The Knit & Natter group is less than a year old and has been very supportive of the community so far, with numerous care home visits and projects such as this one helping to make positive differences to people’s lives.

The Knit & Natter sessions take place from 10am on Wednesdays and are free for anyone to attend. For more information, you can ring the Trust on 01246 925115.
