National Youth Work Week is an annual celebration of all things youth work. Here at Chesterfield FC Community Trust, our Youth Diversion team deliver a wide range of projects to help support young people within the local community.
The Youth Diversion Team engage with approximately 250 young people over 13 sessions each week.
Within these sessions, young people are given the opportunity to participate in free sports sessions through our PL Kicks project, engage in workshops built around current social issues affecting young people, and support networks at our Spireites Youth Hub and within schools through Project REBOOT.
The Youth Diversion Team within the Trust understand the importance of accessible youth workspaces for young people and therefore provide regular sessions and opportunities for young people in the community to build skillset, confidence and understanding of themselves, their community and key issues.
Learn about some of our Youth Work Projects at the Trust we deliver through our Youth Diversion Team:
Premier League Kicks

PL Kicks uses the power of football to inspire young people to reach their potential. The programme, funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund, is aimed at supporting young people aged between 8 and 18-year-old, with football, sport, mentoring and personal development opportunities.
The overall goal of the PL Kicks project is to help young people to reach their potential through providing opportunities through FREE sports sessions, workshops and pathways.
Boots On the Ground
Boots on the Ground has Chesterfield FC Community Trust staff working alongside local police, council, schools to engage with young people, discourage anti-social behaviour and work alongside organisations/projects in both Bolsover and Buxton (as part of Project Unity) to make safer environments for young people.
The project involves staff members patrolling local anti-social behaviour hotspots in each area, to engage with young people, build trusted relationships and support with issues/concerns they may have. Overall, we engage with approximately 80-100 young people per week through the Boots On the Ground project.
Project REBOOT

In partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council, Project REBOOT works in local Chesterfield secondary schools with targeted groups of individuals who either are involved in anti-social behaviour within the community, low level behaviour problems in school, or young people that may need some additional support.
Individuals within the groups attend a weekly session that is built into their curriculum timetable and engage in topics such as future ambitions, financial understanding, workshops around anti-social behaviour, anti-racism and drug/alcohol awareness. Participants are shown the impact being involved in this can have on themselves, the community and their wellbeing.
Spireites Youth Hub

The Spireites Youth Hub is situated in Chesterfield town centre, and allows for young people to be supported in many ways. A support group for young people not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) runs on a weekly basis from here. Referrals from multiple different organisations are made into the Hub to allow Youth Diversion staff to help support young people through finding work experience and completing courses/qualifications. Support is also provided through our drop-in services for support/signposting and to help young people find activities that they can get involved in.
There is more to come from our Youth Diversion team, with new projects on their way soon! Check the timetable below to see our current schedule.
