The Trust’s U12 & u16 pan-disability sides had an enjoyable time at their latest tournament, with the latter finishing second at the Eco-Power Stadium in Doncaster on Sunday.

Whilst the U12 side faced a difficult set of teams, they all enjoyed it and all of the players put in high amounts of effort to compete at a high standard.

The U16s finished third in their group, winning one and drawing twice with one loss.

The team managed a 1-0 victory in the quarter finals with a late goal.

Contrastingly, an early goal in the semi-finals gave them a 1-0 win to ensure they finished in the top two.

The side lost 3-1 in the final, coming up against a strong Barton FC side, but they didn’t leave trophy-less as they were awarded the Fair Play trophy for their outstanding behavioural record throughout the tournament across both teams.

Craig Dawson, who was one of the coaches, said: “It builds their experience around what it’s like to be in a competitive environment.

“One of the kids debuted for the u16s having previously played for the u12s and pulled off a stellar performance in defence.

“It builds friendships and partnerships with their teammates.

“Ultimately, it gives them the opportunity to experience the feeling of both winning and losing.

“The kids were really disappointed not to win the final, but they understand that it’s okay to lose. Overall, they had a really positive experience.

“Both me and Connor (other coach) are immensely proud of both teams and how far they’ve come. We’re looking forward to the league starting in October.”
