The Trust was delighted and proud to have been selected to host the Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS) Girls Cup Regional Finals earlier this month.
Jade Weeks, the Trust’s PLPS lead, reflected on the event’s success, saying: “The event went really well. I was a little bit nervous to start, with it being our first-ever time hosting for the Premier League.
“The weather was brilliant, so at least it wasn’t raining. We’d bought a bunch of new stuff so we could make our competitions look even better, thanks to the Premier League for giving us the funding.”
Chesterfield FC were represented at the tournament by Hasland Junior School. Commenting on their performance, Jade added: “Hasland’s girls did us proud. They never gave up, and throughout the entire competition, all the girls were very complimentary of each other.
“It really showed how fair play was a big part of the day as well. We’ve known that they performed really well in previous competitions, and we also knew that they’d be coming up against some tough competition.
“Schools came from all over, such as Leicester City and Notts County, who were the two finalists. We knew it’d be a tough shift for them, but they did really well.”
