The Trust’s adults SEND football team competed in their first-ever 11-a-side fixture at Pontefract Colleries FC, with teams from Pontefract, Bradford, Middlesbrough, Whitby, Liverpool and Chesterfield taking part.

The team came up against some very strong sides but ended up getting through to the quarter-finals to face the league leaders, Skem Aces from Liverpool. The game unfortunately resulted in a 3 – 1 loss, but the Trust’s team gave them a tough game.

SEND football coach, Craig Dawson, commented on the experience, saying: “To make it to the quarter-finals of the tournament in our first 11-a-side games is a massive achievement. It was a brilliant day; everyone received medals, and the winners and runners-up received trophies.

“We are always recruiting for new players here at the Trust, so if you are interested, please email me at craigdawson@cfcct.org.uk or message me via WhatsApp on 01246389487. I can send you all the booking information, and your first week will be free. Just message me for a discount code.

“Training is every Monday and Wednesday at Springwell Community College from 5pm until 6pm, and we compete in a six-a-side league against other disability teams.

“We’ve got great players and even better personalities in the team; we just want to expand our team so we can carry on coming to these 11-a-side tournaments. Please get in touch; we would love to hear from you.”
